Good Night Moon is part one of a two-part project that explores the dream life of a child who has lost her favorite toy. She imagines going out into the night in search of it while everyone is asleep. The project is based on an event from my own childhood and takes inspiration from Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny, both written by Margaret Wise Brown, and illustrated by Clement Hurd. Out of PLAYce documents toys abandoned on city streets and in parking lots... as well as toys neglected by children themselves on their own neighborhood sidewalks, sometimes in front of their own homes... These objects that once belonged in a child’s play space now occupy the ‘real world’ space of adults.
