Good Night Moon is part one of a two-part project that explores the dream life of a child who has lost her favorite toy. She imagines going out into the night in search of it while everyone is asleep. The project is based on an event from my own childhood and takes inspiration from Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny, both written by Margaret Wise Brown, and illustrated by Clement Hurd. Although these books were not familiar to me when I was a child, I read them as an adult while doing research for another project. Their uncanny connection to the story from my childhood moved me like twin beats from a far away childish heart.
